Lesley is about to graduate from his Honours year from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music - University of Melbourne. Lesley began studying the violin and piano at the age of five. Despite showing promise in both instruments he elected to specialise in piano in secondary school. Under the fine tutelage of his current teacher, Melbourne-based pianist Caroline Almonte, Lesley has flourished with his piano playing and has developed a passion for the piano music of The Great Romantics with a particular appreciation of Franz Liszt and Robert Schumann.
His enthusiasm for the piano is infectious and he loves passing on his knowledge and passion to students of all ages and abilities.
Having won prizes at various eisteddfods in chamber music, Lesley is an active chamber musician and relishes the opportunity to make music collaboratively. Holding a Bachelor of Music and a Licentiate Diploma, Lesley was recently nominated as the recipient of the Mona McCaughey Scholarship from the University of Melbourne, Faculty of Fine Arts and Music. Additionally, he also performed live on 3MBS’ ‘The Talent’ series.
In the coming years Lesley hopes to be an active member of the music community both through performing as a soloist and chamber musician as well as educating and nurturing the next generation of young musicians.
Lesley is currently available to teach on Friday afternoons.
