Susie has been an enthusiastic piano player since the age of 4. At the age of 16 she obtained DipABRSM Piano Performance from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in London, and is currently studying Classical Performance at Melbourne Conservatorium. Her love for piano playing and music significantly grew during her high school years, and she was successful in winning the junior, senior, duet, and accompaniment sections of a series of piano competitions, as well as being awarded Chamber Music Cup, Best Contribution to Music, and the Leadership Medal. In 2017, she also received a Pettman Junior National Academy Scholarship for music, valued at $4000.
Susie enjoys interacting with younger players, and understands that a balance between enjoyment and securing fundamental techniques is critical in any student’s long-lasting appreciation for this art. She believes in a well-rounded approach to piano playing by integrating basic aural and theory knowledge into the lessons. Her extensive musical experience spans multiple genres and instruments, thus enabling her to introduce to her students valuable skills such as ensemble playing. Her extensive experience teaching in New Zealand saw her coaching students of all abilities.
Susie is available on Saturday morning for lessons.
